Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know before your dog's first visit — and beyond.

The Fluff Lab specialises in one-on-one grooming for small and medium-sized dogs weighing up to 15 kg. If you're unsure whether your pup is suitable, send me a message with their breed, weight and a photo, and I'll be happy to help.

Whether your dog needs a short summer cut, a fluffy style groom, a tidy-up, a wash and blow-dry or a deshedding treatment, there's an option to suit their needs. If you're not sure which service is right, just send me an email and we can work it out together!

When I'm grooming, my full attention needs to be on the dog in front of me. Phone calls can take time away from the hands-on care each pup deserves, and my priority is to give every dog the best possible grooming experience. I'm always happy to answer your questions, though! Email is the best way to get in touch, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can between appointments.

This depends on your dog's coat type, lifestyle and the style you prefer. As a general guide, regular appointments every 6–8 weeks help keep the coat manageable and in good condition. Fluffy styles and longer coats may need more frequent brushing and maintenance between visits.

Absolutely! The Fluff Lab Puppy Foundations package is designed to introduce puppies to grooming gradually through three prepaid appointments. Starting with a gentle wash and blow-dry, progressing to a tidy-up and then a style or full groom, the aim is to help your puppy build confidence and become more comfortable with regular grooming. Appointments must be scheduled no more than four weeks apart. Contact me for pricing and to discuss your puppy's needs.

I'm happy to work through some tangles where it's safe and comfortable for your dog. However, brushing out severe matting can be painful and stressful, so heavily matted coats will need to be clipped short or shaved where appropriate. Your dog's comfort and wellbeing will always come before keeping their coat length. I won't put a dog through unnecessary pain just to save their hair. If your dog has knots that require extra brushing time and additional products, an extra charge may apply. I'll always prioritise a safe, comfortable grooming experience and discuss any concerns with you. Regular brushing and grooming appointments are the best way to prevent matting and keep your dog's coat healthy and manageable.

The Fluff Lab provides one-on-one grooming, which means I work with each dog on my own. For everyone's safety, I'm unable to accept dogs whose behaviour makes them unsafe to handle by a single groomer. If your dog is nervous, anxious or uncomfortable with grooming, please let me know before booking. We can discuss their needs and whether my one-on-one setup is suitable for them. My priority is to create a calm, safe experience for every dog, while also ensuring the groom can be carried out safely and humanely.
